Self-reflection is hard. Great resource sites help.
Unpacking Racism was born out of the idea that although social media is filled with information, it can be overwhelming. The site’s goal is to provide people with a starting point for self-reflection and/or to continue to expand their research. The hope is that the site can fit into the viewer’s time and energy constraints– one can spend hours exploring or five minutes– by having an organized place to go to find an article to read, sign a petition, or discover a new brand to support.
The content on the site is meant to present various perspectives. It has come
via recommendations from those with diverse backgrounds and those specializing in diversity, peace and conflict resolution, law, and gender. It is meant
to be a collaborative space that is updated regularly, so please send insightful
content recommendations via resourcesforunpackingracism@gmail.com.
The site is also designed to be a place for lifelong learning, as this type of self-reflection and research is meant to be continuous. There is an opt-in to subscribe for reminder emails at the frequency of your choice, in hopes that people will consistently use the site to keep learning, reading, listening, understanding, growing, and unpacking racism.
